How it works.
What it removes
- Earlier versions of posts and pages. The current version always stays
- Auto-drafts older than a day, so an editor that is open right now is left alone
- Posts, pages and comments in the trash, and comments marked as spam
- Expired transients, the temporary cache data plugins make again when they need it
How it runs
- Posts and comments are deleted through WordPress, so their extra data goes with them
- Nothing is deleted until you confirm, and deleted items cannot be brought back, so keep a recent backup
- A very large cleanup stops before the site times out and tells you to run it again to finish
- Optimizing runs after the deletions, only on tables with free space
